The area

Tarn-et-Garonne (also known as the French Toscane) is located at the meeting point of several regions and landscapes.

This is what creates such a wide diversity in the nature.

The area, crossed by the rivers Tarn and Garonne, is well known for its gastronomy, as well as for its mild climate and sunny weather.

80% of the fruits produced in Midi-Pyrenees come from Tarn-et-Garonne.

Moissac grapes are “AOC” (appellation d'origine contrôlée). These golden grapes are also called the pearls of Tarn-et-Garonne.

Moissac is surrounded by water and green hills covered with orchards and vineyards.

This nice city is on the promenade G.R. 65 (Saint-Jacques de Compostelle), the most used path in Europe. All European pilgrims know of the abbey and convent of Moissac, which are both worth to be visited.

During summer, many evening concerts are organized as well as the festival “de la Voix” (mid-July).

Moissac is only a 10-minutes ride from our property.

The slightly sloping landscape of Tarn-et-Garonne offers great opportunities for hikes, bicycle and mountain-bike rides.

Close by our property, is a large recreation and water-sports area (Saint-Nicolas-de-la-Grave). There, you can sail, windsurf or fish. Rides on river boats and canoes are possible on either the river Tarn or the Canal du Midi.

There are many “pigeoniers” in the landscape of Tarn-et-Garonne. You will notice them on top of the hills and close by farm houses.

Village and small towns are numerous. Many offer a rich history and evening markets in summer time.

Places to visit in the area: Montauban and its historical (car-free) centre, Toulouse (called the Paris of the South), Castelsagrat, Lauzerte, Montjoi, Lafrancaise, Castelsarrasin, Valence d'Agen, and so on.

During the summer, there are many rural festivals, brocantes and vide-greniers (cheap vintage markets).

All these places are close by. For the children, there is also a aqua fun park and park Walibi is not far away.

An interesting web-site to visit is the one of the Regional Committee of Tourism in Midi Pyrenees: http://www.tourim.midi-pyrenees.org/
